philosophy
Brennan+Company Architects has been practicing sustainable, smart design for years - incorporating durable materials, 'not so big house' ideas, reallocation of space, and building preservation. Eleven years ago we began rewriting our specifications to include renewable, recycled or salvaged materials and products that also provide an healthy indoor air quality. Five years ago, we began creating a 'green plan' for each new project that evaluated existing site, water, energy, material and air quality conditions. We provided recommendations specific to each project to design more sustainably and we educated our clients on making more holistic choices. Two years ago, we began to look deeper in to energy efficiency issues, realizing that the energy to maintain a building has the largest impact on our environment. Currently we work with a Passive House Consultant who is trained in methods and technologies of building envelope design that is 80% more energy efficient. Combined with our knowledge of materials, site sustainability, and healthy indoor air quality, Brennan+Company creates holistic environments that are healthy for their inhabitants and for the environment.
