Located at the end of a new pipe stem development, the existing house matched its neighbors in detail and massing. Its prime location adjacent to parkland and with access to hiking and biking trails, called for more design. A new first floor sunroom, dining, mudroom and office were all added to the house along with a walk-out lower level sitting, exercise and office. A landscape plan by Plusen Landscape Design complements the addition with upper and lower terraces, pergola and planting. The large casement and transom windows maximize daylight and the view of the woods. Exterior stained woodwork and the new grill station, along with stone and native plants connect this modern craftsman house to its wild landscape, with its materials and colors.
