This existing 1925 Studebaker showroom and garage provided a voluminous space with bow trusses and an art-deco character to accommodate many functions of an adult daycare center.
The 4,500 sf renovation included offices, a large general purpose room, storage and operational facilities, along with an exterior entrance and seating area.
Daylighting was maximized by replacing old non-functioning windows with aluminum storefront with additional skylights to light the interior spaces. Sustainable materials such as recycled rubber flooring, linoleum, recycled carpet tile, low-VOC paints, and formaldehyde-free MDF built-ins were used to allow for healthy indoor air quality as well as responding to environmental impact concerns. Additionally, the finishes provide comfortable, hygienic surfaces suitable for the day-to-day wear-and-tear of an active adult daycare facility.
